After the 2016 election, Tansy Brooks of the Crucible was trying to come up with some response to all her gloom, a way to get up and move forward, and the word and concept of Resist seemed to help. When dyeing fabric (or other materials), one uses a resist to keep the dye from sticking, from sinking in. She did not want the hopelessness and divisiveness she had felt to sink in - to her, or to her community. And she wants to preserve what lies underneath, the reasons she is here and the things she can bring to the world.
We’ll have squares of cloth in different colors, resist, and assorted ways to apply it. Choose a color of cloth, decorate it with the resist, and we will do the rest. You will have a beautiful banner to bring home.
There is no charge for this event but donations will be gladly accepted.
